How to Make Money with Paid Blogging Sites

A good number of professional bloggers use a variety of methods to bring in income. Besides having a few of their own blogs that bring in revenue from things like Adsense and affiliate programs, they also use paid blogging sites which are basically various websites that pay you to blog in some way.

There are several types of “paid to blog” models. Each of them has their pros and cons.

Joining Revenue Sharing Blog Networks

There are some blog networks out there that use a revenue sharing model. These include communati.com, orble.com, and bloggerparty.com. I’ve used these sites before and I never really noticed a huge jump in my Adsense income.

The one benefit to these types of sites is that you can develop a strong network of supports and readers who may follow you to other sites such as Facebook or your own blogs.

There are other blogging networks such as B5 Media and 451 Press that give you a blog on their network. However, I am not sure on their pricing schedule. They may offer revenue sharing, pay you a flat rate per post, or a combination of both.

Paid to Post Sites

There are some sites that offer bloggers a chance to earn money by posting links on their blog. For example, they may pay you $5 to post a link related to a product or service. The link has to be within a post. That means you will need to write a post with the number of words they ask for.

It’s a good way to generate a decent income. However, from an SEO standpoint, it’s a nightmare. Some of the links don’t relate to your blog topic. When you write the post anyway, not only does it stick out, but some people visit your blog from the search engines because of these posts.

If you have a health website but are posting about mortgages, the people who do come to your site this way will be disappointed. Examples of these sites include blogitive.com, smorty.com, sponsoredreviews.com and blogsvertise.com.

Some of the sites call themselves “review” sites but the basic model is the same – post a link within a blog entry and get paid for it.

Are they worth it?

No matter what the business model that the paid blogging sites have, there are positive and negative aspects of all the different types. Just remember that if you do use any of these, especially the “pay per post” types of sites, you could be messing up the SEO of your blog.
