Is Myspace Dead?

Remember when either everyone had a myspace.com account or they were thinking of having one because so many of their friends did? And then, it just sort of disappeared from the pop culture’s radar. But it’s not gone, people do still use it. But does it still have value for bloggers? In other words, is Myspace dead or not?

Is Myspace still around?

Yes, it’s still there. And yes, there are people who are still using it to promote themselves – they’re even still making money. You can still use it for promotion. In fact, it’s still a very lively place for music lovers, which means that if you have a blog in a music related niche Myspace is still a good place for you.

My Experiences with Myspace

But other then that – I have to be honest. I lost my login information over a year ago and haven’t bothered retrieving it. I just don’t use it. I use Facebook instead, and I like the layout and the features much better.

But aside from that, it seems that a lot of people have also stopped using Myspace and are drawn into the world of Facebook. My audience has moved and grown since I’ve made the switch. This gives it more value to me as a blogger because it drives in more traffic.

Should you stop using it?

So should you stop using Myspace? Not necessarily, especially if you’re seeing good results. But I urge you to try to devote more of your time to Facebook. You may find that you get more traffic from it. If that’s the case, you may want to make the switch as I did.
